Tailored initially for beginners and improvers, who wish to gain more confidence with their camera of choice, or who want to discover the direction to go in selecting a camera to suit the needs.
Learn at a pace which is comfortable for you, whilst enjoying a unique 'Taste of Ireland' holiday.
West Cork Photography Breaks also welcome groups of up to four photographers who are maybe less in need of instruction but who wish to be guided around this beautiful corner of Ireland, to capture the stunning opportunities West Cork offers. Please contact Celia to discuss your requirements.
In spring, the West Cork countryside is bursting with colour, whilst autumn is peak season for whale watching in West Cork, and subject to weather conditions, this unique opportunity for wildlife photography will feature prominently during the weekends.
For the beginners, the aim of the weekend is to experince a wide selection of disciplines, which will serve to further your understanding and appreciation of photography. These weekends can be tailored to the requirements of specific individuals or groups. Whether it be a smart phone or a DSLR, all are welcome, as the principles of photography are what it is about. Even if you have no camera at all, there will be kit to borrow. Led and hosted by UK and West Cork based photographer Celia Bartlett who will guide and instruct you appropriate to your camera, covering everything from the basic fundamentals of photography, to more specialised techniques, as the situations arise. The weekend will flow in an easy-going way, giving time to take in the beautiful surroundings of West Cork, whilst learning at a pace to suit the individual. There will be opportunities to visit the pretty towns and villages, explore the glorious coastline of the Wild Atlantic Way, and discover the spectacular mountain scenery. There will be opportunity for a diverse dip into a range of photography skills, including nature and wildlife, close-up and macro photography, action and low-light photography, street and documentary photography, amongst others. During the evenings, there will be time to relax and chat about aspects of the day, join in mini seminars, receive constructive critique, and where time allows, guidance in basic editing techniques.
There will be an opportunity for returners, or those who are a little more advanced, to join a led but relaxed weekend enjoying the company of like-minded photographers. This will take in the sights of West Cork and where guidance will be on an 'as required' basis. Ask about dates.
